Great place to see Eagles, Northern Harriers, all types of waterfowl and various and sundry local and migratory birds. This winter (23-24) we are fortunate to have the presence of short-eared owls putting on a show. Love these little guys.
The guy at the info desk was very helpful in indicating where in the park you can see birds. The building had some great displays and multiple spotting scopes to look out into the river.
We saw over 10 bald eagles throughout the park and even saw a couple diving to catch fish in the river. The hundred of trumpeter swans was amazing especially seeing them fly low overhead in small groups.
If you like nature you should visit here. The place is located near the river next site for many amazing birds. The crew is very friendly and you can feel they are there because they love what they do. We are visiting there occasionally and every time it is the same feeling - glad that we came and amazed by the views.
We had so much fun watching a couple eagles, a flock of swans, and many other birds. Our daughter had fun playing inside a looking at all the animals. The guide inside was so friendly and very helpful. Will definitely be back! (Though, maybe on a warmer day)
3 staff members onsite and all very helpful with knowledge. Dwight was super awesome with myself and family. Great telescopes on-site and lots of info on eagles and birds of Missouri. We took a walk outside and saw 4 bald eagle juveniles flying overhead. Great place to visit and it’s free.
Nice place to take a walk and enjoy nature. Great place for bird watching. Trails are paved and flat. Visitor Center is beautiful with exhibits, information and a small assortment of gifts. Good for all ages. Best of all, it’s free!
Very nice facility. We scheduled a visit for our scout group ahead of time, which included a walk along a paved trail, spotting eagles and waterfowl through a scope, a raptor encounter experience and roasting smores at the fire pit. Everything was handicap accessible. Indoor and outdoor activities. The educators and volunteers were excellent.
I love this nature preserve. Wonderful for bird watching in all seasons. I also saw an eagle release by the Wild Bird Sanctuary in this area because apparently this is a good environment for eagles to live.
